Scarborough, North Yorkshire travel information
Scarborough North Yorkshire England
Scarborough is the pride of the North Yorkshire coastline and continues to attract hoards of holidaymakers each year. The coastline boasts two beautiful bays, the North and South Sands, with Castle Hill on a headland in between the two. Castle Hill, being the home of the remains of a Norman castle, dating back to 1130.
As well as boasting beautiful golden sands and high cliff tops that give visitors great views, Scarborough also established itself as a spa town back in 1620. It was from then onwards that it quickly became one of the countrys best-loved seaside resorts, as the many Georgian and Victorian buildings around the town illustrate.
Todays visitors still love the beaches and the attractive esplanade, but they now come for the picturesque parks, good shopping and fun nightlife too. Children meanwhile have the same attractions that generations have enjoyed such as donkey rides and Punch & Judy shows, as well as all the latest amusement arcade games.
